Not Medea

'Joey Parsons is such a superb actor, her performance can paper over a weak script. But she didn’t have to in Allison Gregory’s astonishing Not Medea, seen at CATF. Truly “a fierce slap-down about love, lust, motherhood, and forgiveness.” Producers: Not Medea deserves to be seen in our region.'

‘In the highly charged and theatrical world premiere play, Not Medea, playwright AllisonGregory contrasts the story of Medea with the plight of an everyday, overworked and stressed out mother who fantasizes a child-free life and partially, cruelly, gets her wish.’

'Allison Gregory’s Not Medea, and its refreshing take on an old story, gives its audience a much needed perspective on the trials and tribulations of motherhood in the 21st century.'

Cast & Synopsis

3 Actors (2w/1m)

What if the show you came to see is not the show you need to see? A working mother escapes to the sanctuary of the theatre and encounters a play she desperately doesn't want to watch, so she manipulates the show-- and the audience, leading them to her own very personal story. A synthesis of myth/magic/real world, Not Medea is a fierce slap-down about love, lust, motherhood, and forgiveness. And something else entirely.
